I got myself a "vintage" 1968 RangeFinder. It's a Yashica Electro 35GS RF. Got it at a sweet deal too ...
Just popped in a roll of 36 exposures film and going to shoot some pics to see the output from this classic camera. It's going to be a fun weekend

The Kids Day Out ... With my Camera.
|
|
This morning, I and some friends had a picnic/family gathering at KLCC park to usher in the new year. The grown-ups are busy eating and chatting, so I gave my old digicam to my eldest son to play ... "Syafie, take this go play with your brother and shoot something", I said.
Back from the picnic, Syafie returned the camera to me and said he had fun with it. I took out the memory card to view the pictures on my PC screen .... my, I was quite surprised at the kind of pictures my kids took.
Here are the pics ....
** Syafie is 9 and Syafiq is 6 years old.

I was having my siesta last Saturday afternoon when my second son, Syafiq, woke me up asked a question ...
"Why is it so difficult to catch a fly?. Everytime I go near one, even from behind, the fly sees me and fly away. Can it see from behind?"
"Wah ..." I thought. This is not going to be easy to explain to a 6 year old. So, I tried my best explaining that the fly has a very special eye which is different from what we, humans have. I told him, flies (or insects, in general) has many tiny eyes which enables them to have a wider view ... even behind of their heads. To show my kid the details of a "compound eye", I took these shots as teaching aid ...
** no flies were harmed in any way in capturing these shots
*** I was the one with a back ache, bending over too long sneaking on these flies.

Reflection.
|
|
Hewlett-Packard (Malaysia) is running a photo contest till the end of the year. The photos submitted for the contest must feature the HP Tower, the Malaysia HQ, depicting HP brand values
- Inventive
- Dynamic
- Human
- Trustworthy, and
- Quality driven.
I decided to give this contest a shot and submitted a few pictures ...
This is one of the few entries I submitted..
Photo Description:
"The HP Tower reflected on a hard disk. The clarity of the reflection of the HP Tower signifies the company's clear focus on quality and brilliance which HP put forth in its products and services."
Thank you Hipzan for letting me use your hard disk and holding it for me to make this shot possible
Check out the contest entries made by AzmanShah ... Super cool shots

Before we left Pangkor, I accompanied my wife and my mother shopping for some momentos for the trip. I already have my momentos (the photos I captured on film), so I was not really interested in buying anything.
But, design on these batik cloth caught my eye, beautiful!!
You know what happened then

Pangkor Island.

Last Tuesday, (Dec 7th) my parents took all my three kids back to their home in Sitiawan. At first, i thought I would have a good romantic time with my wife sans the children for a few days, but it did not turn out quite that way ...
The first day was really great, I took my wife out for a candle light dinner, later drove around Kuala Lumpur and reminisce our courting days. As we got back home and while we were getting ready to call it a night, both of us started to talk about the children. We talked about how the children have grown untill we fell asleep.
The next day, the moment we got home, while my wife were preparing dinner, we still talk about the kids. After dinner, both of us, looked at each other reading each others' mind ....
Yeah!!! ... We missed the chlidren.
Come Friday afternoon, we packed up and started our 3 hour journey to my parents'. While on the way, my wife made a few calls to my mom, who later made some calls to reserve at a Beach Chalet at Pangkor Island.
... I am taking the whole family for an impromtu weekend vacation.... .We had a great weekend.
I'll be posting some pictures of the "short vacation" this week.
These three pictures here were taken on Saturday afternoon around 5.00pm. Coral Bay, Pangkor Island. The strong backlight reflecting from the water surface turns these pics almost monochromatic.
(P/S: I got all my kids back with me now )
